Champoluc, together with Antagnod, is the biggest hamlet of all the villages that form the Commune of Ayas. Ayas is the last commune of the Evançon valley, situated in a wonderful area at the feet of the Monte Rosa. The land borders in the North is Switzerland, in the West is Valtournenche, in the South is Brusson and in the East is the Gressoney Valley, and it is surrounded by one of the most beautiful mountain chain of Aosta Valley. To get to Ayas arriving from Brusson, it is necessary to pass a natural obstacle created by an old rock slide, which is the Pra-Chabon wood, that on one side rests at the feet of the Monte Zerbion and on the other side on the Corno Bussola mountainside.Passing this obstacle over, you can find the verdant Ayas valley, dominated by the ponderous Monte Rosa. The landscape varies a lot: glaciers, bitter rocky walls and green areas. The Monte Rosa Massif, main protagonist of this landscape, counts on many four-thousand metre mountains: the Breithorns, the Polluce, the Castore, the Lyskamms, the Dufour peak (second peak in Europe after the Monte Bianco) and many other mountains that you can climb in safety together with the Champoluc mountain guides during the summer holiday. During the Summer season Ayas offers a lot of other activities: mountain bike, climbing, excursions at low or medium altitudes, the emotion of an adventurous park and for the most daredevil people paragliding. Champoluc, however, is mainly known as winter tourism station and it is considered one of the most important resorts that form the Monterosa Ski together with Gressoney and Alagna. Monterosa Ski offers to the ski-lovers 37 very modern lifts and 180 kilometres of ski slopes that develop themselves over the three Valleys at the feet of Monte Rosa; there are also many off-piste itineraries to discover either by using the lifts or with the sealskins for those who like ski-mountaineering. Breathtaking sceneries, relaxing walks, challenging excursions, great descents with skis or mountain bikes or just the peace and calmness that you can only find in the mountain: this is what is waiting for you in Champoluc…
